A few of my favourite things…

Favourite Film: Depends on my mood…’The Hours’ to ‘Moulin Rouge’

Favourite Holiday: Africa, nothing more special than experiencing first-hand the preservation and protection of some of the world’s most beautiful and magnificent animals

Favourite Food: Impossible to choose from the amazing food available in our local supermarket. But if I had to narrow it down it would be any type of fresh fish or seafood! Preferably alfresco with a perfectly chilled glass of Pouilly Fume

Favourite things to do in my spare time: Running, walking my dog, big foodie (trying out new restaurants and wine), cooking for friends. Travel to experience new cultures. Fashion and interior design! Music and watching my favourite artists perform…anyone from Texas to Justin Timberlake!

Penny prides herself on offering approachable, tailored and carefully considered financial advice that really makes a difference - and has been doing so for over two decades.

Her career in financial services began at Standard Life before she joined St. James’s Place in 2001 where the company, PW & Partners all started.

Penny can add the most value to clients nearing retirement age and beyond – helping clients secure enough income to last their lifetime, preserving and growing capital whilst protecting it against inflation, Inheritance Tax and paying for care…ultimately safeguarding it for future generations.

Having spent years closely focusing on the highly specialised area of long-term care she understands this is an especially sensitive area and so she aims to make sure that anyone who has to enter into long-term care has a fully considered set of options. She believes it’s never too early to give this careful consideration…to find out more about Penny’s experience and accreditations in this area please see our dedicated Long Term Care leaflet.

Life has the habit of throwing the unexpected at us! What Penny does effectively is encourage her clients to plan ahead.  In our later years, our financial stability is threatened if a crisis happens due to the death of a family member or serious longer-term ill health …. It’s important of course to ensure our financial plans can meet our day-to-day requirements but equally robust enough to support us in the vent of a crisis. She offers honest and realistic personally tailored solutions to help her clients reach their financial aspirations with regular review meetings to keep on top of any change in circumstances.

Building long-term relationships based on trust is key, coupled with pushing boundaries to get her clients to think in much more detail about what it is they truly need, whilst guiding them through the facts and figures and what that means for them in reality.

Areas of Expertise:

Investments – helping our client’s capital work hard irrespective of the financial climate whilst endeavouring to always, where possible, save tax

Inheritance Tax (IHT)/Trust & Estate Planning – including how to mitigate IHT…from regular gifting and using simple Trusts* to highly specialised products

Long-term Care Planning – working closely with families and their solicitors when expensive care costs have to be paid for the elderly or vulnerable adults with incapacity.

Giving something back is a big deal for Penny who has been actively involved with numerous charities,  the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation, ‘Lunch with an Old Bag’ Fundraising Committee for The Princes Trust and is also the founding member of the Edinburgh Care Forum.

Penny’s clients refer to her as passionate, fun, reliable and caring. She considers each client outcome as personally as they do – offering a highly professional service and superb level of client care.

The value of an investment with St. James’s Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.

The levels and bases of taxation can change at any time. The value of any tax relief depends on individual circumstances.
